A sports store in downtown Chicago was set ablaze after it was looted during protests Saturday.

Crews responded to the fire just after 10:30 p.m. at the Chicago Sports store on Michigan Avenue in the Loop, WBBM-TV reports. Before the fire was ignited, a person with a skateboard smashed a window and began taking items from inside.

Flames eventually spread to the second and third floors of the three-story building. As many as a dozen firefighters responded to the blaze.

The fire was just part of the violence that erupted during demonstrations throughout Chicago on Saturday. Mayor Lori Lightfoot instituted a curfew after peaceful protests in response to the death of George Floyd escalated.

Rocks and bottles were thrown at police as they tried to quell the demonstrations. Several police cars also were overturned and set on fire.
